SilverCloud provides private and secure access anywhere, anytime, to evidence-based, online programmes that will help teach you techniques to reduce symptoms of low mood, anxiety and stress. During this current pandemic we have a COVID-19 module which focuses on low mood and stress and also additional programmes available for people suffering from mental health issues related to Long Term Conditions. Based on cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, and positive psychology, SilverCloud is very interactive and very flexible. It can be used on your phone or tablet device so that you always have access to it.

What is CBT?
CBT teaches people to recognise and tackle problems here and now ….
CBT is a psychological therapy that works on the relationships between thoughts (cognitions), behaviours, and feelings. CBT teaches the individual how to recognise and tackle problems here and now, rather than in the past. It has been widely studied and has been proven to work especially on depression and anxiety.
How to use SilverCloud?
40 minutes per week, over 6 to 8 weeks on SilverCloud…
We recommended that you spend around 40 minutes per week, over 6 to 8 weeks on SilverCloud, at a regular time if possible. This could be done all at once or broken down into 10-15 minutes, 3 or 4 times a week when you have time to yourself. For example on your lunch breaks, on the bus home, in the evening, when the kids are in bed. As with most things, it may take time and practice to make progress.

SilverCloud programs have demonstrated a high improvement rates for stress, anxiety and depression. You set your own pace, it is not time consuming, and you don’t have to stick to rigid appointments.
How do I access SilverCloud?
Referral via GP or nurse at your practice…
To access the program you will need to be referred by a doctor or nurse at your GP Practice or another Medical Professional. You will then receive an email from the CCBT Coordinator containing a link to activate your account.
Where can I complete the program?
SilverCloud can be completed at home or in the community…
The course can be completed in your home or in a community site such as a library. Using either a desktop computer, laptop, tablet or Smartphone.
Is the information I put in confidential?
Yes and all the data you submit is stored and encrypted…
Yes. You have a username and password so that no-one else can access the details you enter and all your data is stored in an encrypted database. Sometimes data that is routinely collected during the course of the treatment will be used in service improvement and evaluation. The information may be shared with other Health Boards or nationally with NHS 24. This information is always anonymised. Every 4 to 5 weeks during your online treatment you will be asked to take part in a “Review” on an agreed review date. During a review you will be asked to complete questionnaires and share any comments that you have made over the course of completing the SilverCloud modules. The cCBT service will then provide written feedback and additional advice that will appear on your Homepage and the Messages page. The feedback and advice provided will not be clinical in nature. If you need clinical support at any stage throughout the online treatment please contact your referring clinician to discuss this.

During a review you will be asked if you have had thoughts of harming yourself. If you answer that you have, your cCBT co-ordinator will inform the person that referred you to the programme. If you are completing the course outside of standard working hours it is recommended you contact NHS 24 to discuss these feelings. The cCBT coordinator will then inform your referrer in the morning of the next working day.

What is Silver Cloud
Silver Cloud is an online treatment programme that uses cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to help people experiencing depression and/or anxiety. It consists of a list of modules to be completed at your leisure. The programme is interactive, during session you can watch video clips, complete exercises and learn CBT tec hniques that can help with depression and anxiety. You will be given tasks to complete during the week and between modules.
How will it help me
Silver Cloud will help you to pinpoint and change unhelpful ways of thinking that can affect how you feel while teaching you more effective ways of solving problems.
How many modules do I need to complete
It is important to complete as many modules as possible. When completing the first couple of modules it may be hard to see how it is relevant to your situation however the programme is designed to build up your knowledge and skills over the modules, if you stop too early you will not get the full benefits of the treatment.
Additional modules can be added if you want by messaging your supporter for help.
How do I access Silver Cloud
When you receive your activation email click on the “Get Started” button and choose a username and password. After this you can now login via the app or Internet browser on https://uk.silvercloudhealth.com.
Download the app via your app store by typing in “Silver Cloud” on android or “Silver Cloud Toolkit” on apple devices.
If you clicked on the “Get Started” button on your PC and it loads in Internet Explorer there can be issues, its best to use another browser. However, if you can select a username or password then just log into https://uk.silvercloudhealth.com on another browser using your username and password like Chrome, Mozilla, Firefox or use the app to finish off the beginning module.
Is the information I put in confidential
Yes. You have a username and password so that no-one else can access the details you enter and all your data is stored in an encrypted database.
What happens if I say yes to suicidal thoughts?
Some modules will ask you if you have had suicidal thoughts. If you answer yes then your GP will be informed the next working day. If you are completing the course outside of standard working hours, it is recommended you contact NHS 24.
What happens if I phone NHS 24
NHS 24 has highly trained staff available 24 hours a day. When you call they will ask you a series of questions which will help them determine the best way to support and help you. This may include transferring you a clinical nursing staff, the Samaritans or Breathing Space.
Where can I complete the course
The course can be completed in your home on any device including PC, Laptop, Mobile and Tablets or in a community site such as a library.
What role does the Review/Supporter have?
When the Computerized Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Team set you up for Silver Cloud they will set a review date. This is just to check in on any messages you have left, offer other additional modules or even give any other friendly advice as well as help with some IT issues where possible, although the app has IT help within it.
