Sleep Well

What is it?

Sleep Well is a 2 hour course that provides you with knowledge and strategies to help reduce sleep problems and improve your sleep quality.

Sleep Well uses techniques from cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), a psychological therapy that focuses on the relationships between thoughts (cognitions), behaviours and feelings. CBT is proven to be effective in helping a variety of sleep problems. The course does not discuss specific sleep disorders but focuses on the common challenges surrounding sleep problems and how to overcome these. NHS staff delivering the course will provide guidance towards further resources if participants feel more input is required going forward.

This 2 hour course, teaches core concepts of good sleep habits and strategies to improve sleep with the aid of an accompanying workbook. The group session is in the form of a live presentation delivered by NHS Fife Assistant Psychologists. This is not group therapy, so you will not be asked to share personal experiences or speak in front of others. Just sit back, listen and take it all in.

What does the session involve?

  • NHS professionals teach you tried and tested (evidence-based) methods of dealing with sleep problems.

  • You will be send a free (and useful) course workbook by post or PDF (indicate preference when booking course).

  • You can have a friend or family member sit with you during the online class if this feels supportive.

  • This is not group therapy, it is a class, so you will not be asked to talk or share any personal experiences. You will be able to ask questions during the session via the messaging function on Zoom.

How will this help me?

  • Help you understand your sleep problem better: How it affects you and what keeps it going.

  • Teach you ways to manage your sleep problem instead of letting your sleep problem control you and your life.

  • Show you how to use this knowledge in your day-to-day life.
