Understanding Teens:

Online information sessions developed for parents/carers of secondary school aged children to support their understanding around adolescent development & behaviour.

These sessions will help you become more confident in understanding and supporting your teenager’s social/emotional development and helping them to thrive

What is it?

Understanding Teens consist primarily of 6 online information sessions for parents/carers of secondary aged children.  The sessions cover a variety of topics including; understanding adolescent development, strengthening the parent-teen relationship, emotion regulation, communication strategies and supporting your teen’s emotional wellbeing. The sessions provide parents/carers with evidence-based strategies, and information, to support their teen to thrive.

If you are unable to attend all 6 sessions, you can sign up to individual sessions. However, if you are able to, we do recommend attending all 6. Information on what will be covered in each session can be found below.

We also offer an extra 7th session as part of Understanding Teens which covers understanding neurodivergence.

You can sign up to Understanding Teens by clicking the “Book Now” button below.

How will this help me?

  • These sessions will help you understand adolescent development and ways to promote and support teen’s social and emotional wellbeing.

  • They will give you practical advice on how to support emotion regulation, communicate effectively and strengthen your relationship with your teen.

  • The Understanding Neurodivergence session aims to offer information about what neurodivergence is and how it can impact development, specific neurodevelopmental conditions and signposting to further support

  • These information sessions will explore self care for parents, as we know parenting is not an easy job.

The Workbook

You will be sent a free workbook with information that goes alongside the sessions. This includes space for you to write down any notes/ strategies that we discuss. The workbook is for you to keep, and you do not have to share what you write in it with the group.
