Talking to someone | Psychological Therapy
The psychological therapies provided by the HSC Staff Psychological Therapies Service are evidence-based and provided by trained clinicians—i.e. are approaches that have been rigorously researched and shown to be effective in helping people manage and recover from a range of psychological difficulties.
The number of sessions offered will vary depending on the nature and severity of the difficulties a person is experiencing. Therapy may be brief or longer term and typically ranges from between 8 to 25 sessions—depending on need.
Psychological therapy appointments are available during normal working hours (9–5). If you think you might benefit from therapy but are unsure what it involves, please watch this short video How talking therapies work – BBC.
If you’re still uncertain whether therapy is the right type of support for you, feel free to email fife.fifestaffsupport@nhs.scot and a member of the team will get in touch to discuss this with you. If you are not currently employed in a Heath and Social Care Role, you may find it helpful to look at some of the other offers available on the Access Therapies homepage by following the other drop down links. For example, Accessing self-help and Accessing Help Online.
